This is my second challenge during the Ironhack pre-work, I decided to look at the user flow of the Norwegian app Vipps. Vipps is a money transfer app that allows you to transfer money within every Norwegian bank in seconds. I chose to focus on the user flow of sending money to a recipient.

UI Elements
Going through the user flow, I noticed UI elements such as text input field, pop up keyboard, search field, buttons and icons.

Lo-fi user flow
Firstly I drew the process in low fidelity, to get a sense of the operations and number of actions required to send money to a recipient. Being completely new to this, I had never thought about the amount of steps required in order to do something that I view as a pretty “simple” process to execute. This got me really excited to starting making mid-fi wireframes and my first ever prototype. I have to apologize for the bright orange color, I know these are supposed to be in black and white, but I wanted to bring some color during these lockdown times.

Task analysis
As Vipps is an app I am very comfortable using, it was very interesting finding out that the user flow also follows quick and simple steps. It was fun to discover and breaking down the process and finding that the flow is as easy as I thought. It is easy to navigate through the app, and the use of bright colors on white really gives you the directions for the different functionalities within the app. What I found challenging is making the prototype more “lively” and interactive, but this is something to work on and improve as I go.

Prototype
My first prototype made in Figma. Please click here to see the user flow step by step.

Final thoughts

I really enjoyed this challenge as I became more comfortable using Figma. What I found challenging was to distinguish what kind of information to include in the different wireframes. This was my first time making a prototype and it was fun to dive deeper into an app that I am so familiar with and follow the flow step by step. I still have a lot to learn, but I am beyond excited to continue my UX/UI journey.
